Poker For Pets Fundraiser In White Plains
Armonk, NY - Adopt-A-Dog, an Armonk-based animal shelter, rescue, and sanctuary will raise funds for its organization at its upcoming Poker for Pets, a night of gambling courtesy of World Poker Tour Events (WPTE) on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 7:00p.m. to 11:00p.m. at Mercedes-Benz of White Plains.
The event will serve as the kick-off to Adopt-A-Dog’s Tail Wagon campaign wherein supporters of the nonprofit’s efforts may donate toward a new Adopt-A-Dog vehicle, dubbed Tail Wagon, courtesy of Mercedes-Benz of White Plains.
Founded in 1981, Adopt-A-Dog is a humane shelter that aims to educate the next generation of pet owners to promote lifetime ownership and to inspire change in the animal welfare industry. The shelter staff and volunteers provide round-the-clock care to its adoptable dogs and cats, many of whom are rescued from out-of-state puppy mills and high-kill shelters. Interested adopters are required to make appointments to visit with potential furry soulmates on its two acre property. As a result of its longtime staff and innovative adoption procedures, Adopt-A-Dog has aided in the placement of more than 13,000 companion animals throughout Westchester County and beyond since its inception.
Funds raised at Poker for Pets will be used to further Adopt-A-Dog’s educational mission and to help maintain the quality care of its adoptable animals as they await forever homes. “It’s our priority to connect with interested adopters and set their expectations when adopting one of our dogs or cats,” said Adopt-A-Dog President Allyson Halm. “All shelter animals want is to be loved and often require a bit of patience to adjust to their new surroundings. Through strategic interaction, health care, and a low stress environment at Adopt-A-Dog, we ensure that each animal is prepared for a lifelong home.”
Poker for Pets night includes catered food and drinks, a sports memorabilia auction, and the opportunity to play poker with some of the best. World Poker Tour Events is one of the most recognized names in internationally televised gaming and entertainment with brand presence in land-based tournaments, television, online, and mobile. Leading innovation in the sport of poker since 2002, WPTE ignited the global poker boom with the creation of a unique television show based on a series of high stakes poker tournaments. “World Poker Tour Events has made poker what it is today and we feel so fortunate that they’ve taken on our cause,” said Adopt-A-Dog Event Chair Annie Angellino. “They hand pick the charities that they choose to be a part of and felt strongly about our overall mission, as well as all that we’ve accomplished in the past thirty years. Adopt-A-Dog is the only World Poker Tour Events charity in our area."
Adopt-A-Dog’s Tail Wagon campaign is powered by Mercedes-Benz of White Plains and gives supporters the opportunity to donate toward a vehicle that will be provided to Adopt-A-Dog through the dealership. The vehicle will be utilized in rescue efforts as well as to transport the shelter’s animals to and from veterinarian appointments and to house visits with potential adopters, among other necessary uses. “As an animal lover, Adopt-A-Dog’s mission is close to my heart,” said Mercedes-Benz of White Plains General Manager Gary Turco. “Our dealership has been committed to serving our neighbors in Westchester County for more than 40 years and we’ve been treated well in return. We’re honored to give back to such a special organization through the generosity of our communities and Mercedes-Benz of White Plains.” To learn more about donating toward Adopt-A-Dog’s Tail Wagon please visit www.adoptadog.org or click http://a.pgtb.me/cLl2 to be directed from your mobile phone or laptop device.
