Mt Vernon Man Sentenced For Train Station Assault
White Plains, NY - The Westchester County District Attorney's office announced that Robert France, 61, of Mount Vernon, New York, was sentenced to a determinate term of nine years in state prison on his March 2012 conviction after a jury trial on the top counts if an indictment.
On April 12, 2011, at approximately 2:50 am, at the White Plains Metro-North Train Station the defendant accosted the victim with the mistaken belief that the victim has his cell phone. Words were exchanged at which point the defendant began repeatedly striking the victim and hitting him with a large metal garbage can numerous times.
The victim sustained a broken leg which required seven screws inserted into his lower leg.
The victim also required multiple stitches in his left hand and had multiple facial fractures.
He was taken to White Plains Hospital treatment then transferred to Westchester Medical Center based on the severity of his injuries.
MTA Police responded and arrested the defendant.
Assistant District Attorney Alexis Celestin of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuted the case.
