Tony Nominated Musical Comes To Hartsdale
Hartsdale, NY - The Tony Award-nominated musical Once on This Island comes to life on the Woodlands High School stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 29, 30 and 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m., 475 West Hartsdale Avenue, Hartsdale, NY, 10530.
Once on This Island is a one-act musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. Based on the novel My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy, set in the French Antilles in the Caribbean Sea, the show also includes elements of the Romeo and Juliet story; as well as the fairytale of The Little Mermaid. The story centers on a peasant girl on a tropical island, who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes.
The original Broadway production ran from 1990 to 1991 and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Musical. The London West End production opened in 1994, where it won the 1995 Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
